Worldwide Marriage Encounter:

Marriage Encounter is for any couple, priest or religious interested in making a weekend, away from the distractions and demands of everyday life, to focus on their marriage or vocation. The weekend is designed to deepen and enrich the joys a couple share, whether they have been married only a short time or for many years.  For priests and religious, the weekend focuses on their relationship with their spouse, the people of God.  It is not a retreat, a clinic, nor a group sensitivity course. Marriage Encounter is open to all happily married couples regardless of faith.  Priests and religious are also encouraged to make weekends and perhaps attend with other members of their cluster or religious community.

The encounters are held 6 times per year, at a local hotel. Weekends are also held in the Chicago and Rockford Dioceses if our dates do not work out for you.  Weekends begin at 8:00 PM on Friday and conclude around 4:30 PM on Sunday with Mass. Give each other the gift of a weekend!

Need more info?  please take a mini-DVD from the envelope hanging on the bulletin board in the lower level on the east side hallway and view the invitation video. Return it for someone else to view at your convenience the next time you are at Church. You can also call John & Betty Schuch at 630-983-5999 or Luis and Lisa Tamez at 815-577-2821.

Small Christian Communities

We at St. Elizabeth Seton have the opportunity to experience community in much the same way that early Christians did. SCC offers us the chance to meet with others in our parish to pray, reflect on Scripture, and to connect our everyday life with our faith. Many in our parish have experienced small group faith sharing and come to St. Elizabeth looking for a continuation of the positive aspects of such programs. Others find themselves searching for a deeper understanding of their faith which they know can be found by sharing and praying with those who have similar interests. Because of the mobility of many in our parish, some people look to SCC as a way to feel part of a small parish "family" within the larger parish family.

Whatever draws you to SCC, please know that you will be welcomed with open arms!

Social Gatherings:

St. Elizabeth Seton has a rich tradition of warm and welcoming social activities. Many of these activities are sponsored by other parish organizations. For example, the Knights of Columbus sponsor an annual dance, the Women's Network sponsors the Pasta Dinner.

The Parish Life Commission supports these activities and facilitates additional parish wide social gatherings. The Parish Life Commission hosts the Parish Picnic, Fish Fry and the SES Feast Day.  They are always looking for clever, creative, and enthusiastic helpers for their events!!

Sunday Coffee and Donuts:

This group is responsible for providing and serving donuts, juice and coffee after the 8:30 and 10:00 AM Masses. The service has become a special tradition at St. Elizabeth Seton, giving us another affectionate title, "The Donut Church," from some of our youth! It is a vital expression of our claim to be a welcoming, hospitable, faith community. The committee coordinates the ordering and pick-up of the refreshments and schedules servers and clean up crews. We could always use more helpers. Remember, many hands make light work!

  Women's Network

The mission of the Women's Network is to provide an opportunity for women to strengthen their community of faith through: sharing common interests, fostering fellowship and serving the community; thereby, contributing to the growth of the St. Elizabeth Parish Family.

We set out to accomplish our mission through the activities of our Social and Fellowship Committees as well as through our community builders.  We also hold quarterly meetings during the year.  The quarterly meetings allow us to keep abreast of upcoming activities and include a program and/or social component.  Information about network activities is also available through the church bulletin or periodic
mailings.

All women of the parish are automatically part of the Women's Network. There are no membership dues and no mandatory meetings. In order to be included in the Women's Network directory and insure that you receive mailings on upcoming events, an "information form" needs to be
completed. The "information forms" are available at the Welcome Table in the narthex of the church.
