P R E S S R E L E A S E / B U L L E T I N A R T I C L E S:P R E S S R E L E A S E Eucharistic Adoration Workshop Joliet Diocese In response to Pope John Paul II’s call to revitalize devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, St. Elizabeth Seton Parish in Naperville will be hosting a Eucharistic Adoration Workshop for lay members of parishes in the Joliet Diocese on Saturday, September 6th from 8 AM until 4 PM. All parishioners of the diocese who are interested in establishing eucharistic adoration in their parishes are encouraged to attend. The workshop is timely in view of the recent encyclical letter of Pope John Paul II “Ecclesia de Eucharistia” on the Holy Eucharist. In it he says, “... adoration of the Blessed Sacrament ... becomes an inexhaustible source of holiness.” He furthermore says that by praying before the Blessed Sacrament “... we are enabled to make contact with the very wellspring of grace.” In Catholic tradition the Holy Eucharist is the very body of Christ and worthy of adoration. It is the gift from Christ to the Church—the gift of himself. "There are so many personal rewards as well as blessings for the entire parish when adoration is a vital part of the parish," says Barbara Brock the head of the St. Elizabeth Seton Workshop Committee. "We want to share what we have learned with other parishes so that everyone can reap these benefits." The workshop day will begin with the celebration of Mass and a keynote address by Bishop Roger L. Kaffer. Following this will be presentations by a variety of speakers providing inspirational and practical input to help attendees in organizing eucharistic adoration in their parishes. The day will include a continental breakfast and a light lunch, take home materials and resources including a CD Rom diskette with an extensive manual. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to visit the John Paul II Perpetual Adoration Chapel located on the St. Elizabeth Seton Campus. A registration packet is available from the following website: www.adorationworkshop.org, or by calling the St. Elizabeth Seton Parish Office at 630-416-3325. The deadline for the application and the $20 application fee is August 22nd. Brock says, "The St. Elizabeth Seton Adoration Committee learned so much during the year long preparation in opening our adoration chapel. We want to share this knowledge with other parishes who want to start adoration or increase their hours but are hesitant to move forward. Now all parishes in our diocese can 'come and see' how the Holy Spirit can lead and guide them in establishing adoration in their parishes." -End Press Release-
